Life has been pretty full for me lately. Been busy with the girls, of course, but doing some new stuff too. I got a sewing machine for Mother's Day, among all the other things I received. I have NEVER sewn in my life! Never took Home Ec, etc. But I was so excited to get a sewing machine because I wanted to learn.
We planned a whole huge surprise party for Kat's birthday. Since the soda fountain was almost finished, we decided to make it a 'sock hop'. So the week of the party I took on my very first sewing project ever. Mind you, I have no clue how to read patterns at all. So I go pick up a pattern for a poodle skirt. Not realizing the pattern I picked up was an adult size pattern! So I took it on... ended up altering it a little... cut a foot off the bottom cuz it was obviously way too long.
But I LOVED how it turned out. No obvious imperfections either.
So, I decided to make matching ones for the twins. Mind you, all I have is an adult size pattern and now I am making a poodle skirt that needs to be close to a 18-24 months size.
So I took a newspaper and drew my own pattern... cut it out and put it together. It was a PERFECT fit. And again, no obvious imperfections. I was soo excited.
When it came to sewing on the applique and leash, I hand stitched Kat's and most of one of the twins. I didn't take long for the hand stitching to get really old. So I became determined to sew it on with my machine. Surprising, that turned out perfect too! I only had to rip a small amount of the stitches out one time and redo it... less than 2 inches.
And I sewed the ribbon on all of them with machine.
I'm way too excited about this, lol.
